Papiya Nandy

Papiya Nandy received her Masters degrees in Physics from Calcutta University and University of California, Ph. D. in Liquid Crystals from Kent State University. In her distinguished career, she occupied several renowned positions across the globe such as post doctoral fellow in Max Planck Institute, faculty in University of Ulm, Germany, Department of Physics,Jadavpur University, where she taught physics and investigated several collaborative research projects. Before retiring as Emeritus Fellow and Professor of Physics, she was Director of JBNSTS, Kolkata.She has many research publications, several patent awards and has guided many Ph.D and Master’s students. Her current research is in science behind homeopathy. She has been awarded the Best Research Paper of 2018 by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt of India. She is elected Fellow of two National Science Academies and was the Convenor of the 1st International Conference for Gifted Minds. She is now associated with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Education, Kolkata, an institute for motivating underprivileged school children in science, organizing seminars of scientific and societal relevance. The members also conduct interdisciplinary research activities.
