EDITORIAL – Censoring Homeopaths – June 2021- Alan V. Schmukler

Recently we reported that the homeopathic charity Homeopathy UK (previously the British Homeopathic Association) was banned from referring to various illnesses including depression, diabetes and infertility on its website.

The culprit was the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which declared that Homeopathy UK violated the code which requires that marketers must not discourage treatment for conditions for which medical supervision should be sought. Homeopathy UK replied that they never discouraged conventional medical treatment, and that their articles were written by legally regulated medical doctors.

Of course, the real issue is that the ASA is directed by people who want to make homeopathy disappear. It wasn’t sufficient to close all the homeopathic hospitals and then to remove homeopathy from the national health system. Those behind this want to censor homeopaths to keep the public from learning that homeopathy can cure those illnesses.

I was thinking about all this as I read the homeopathically cured case of gangrene,  the case of  deep vein thrombosis cured by homeopathy, the research showing homeopathy is valuable in treating malaria , the two horses cured of rattlesnake bite with homeopathy, and the randomized, placebo‐controlled, double‐blind study showing homeopathy as an add on therapy can improve quality and length of life in small cell lung cancer. (6)

Of course, there are hundreds of studies validating the healing potential of homeopathy in adults, children, animals, plants and in vitro. (7) But for a more personal touch, I like to recommend the writings of Dr. J. Compton Burnett (1840-1901), author of Curability of Tumours by Medicines, Curability of Cataract with Medicines, Diseases of the Skin – Their Constitutional Nature and Homoeopathic Cure, and many more.

For people who aren’t willing to read all of this, there is Dr. Burnett’s elegant 72- page booklet “Fifty Reasons for being a Homoeopath”.  In his very clear and conversational manner, he shares summaries of successful cases, ranging from chronic headache and dermatitis to angina, kidney disease, cataract and cancer. For anyone open to knowing what homeopathy can do, this is the easiest, quickest introduction.

Dr. Burnett wrote this little booklet in 1888, when homeopathy hospitals were thriving in the UK and homeopaths had successfully treated all the major plagues that visited that country. Since the U.K. is now censoring homeopathy in the press and on the internet, it might be a good time to give this little booklet out on street corners. Happy reading!

    • Thank you Haseena. It is homeopaths like you who contribute cases and articles that enable us to publish high quality work.

  • Alan, you are barking at wrong tree. I see no point of your editorial listing examples that homeopathy works as publication is aimed at homeopaths. The point of discussion should be what homeopaths as a profession can do to bring this knowledge about homeopathic efficacy to the general public. That requires resources to employ professional advisers and lawyers to fight those battles for us – we won’t win it by saying even most illustrious examples of how homeopathy works to ourselves. The way to do it is via formation a central governing body, membership and pooling of resources. Society of Homeopaths tried to do it, but its membership dwindled and the profession has scattered, not everybody agreed with their strict rules and demands for professional conduct etc. The philosophical approaches in homeopathic community also play a part. I think homeopaths should go right down back to the core Hahnemann’s teaching. We have proliferation of remedies i.e. meditative provings etc – for general public that is not easy to swallow some of more bizzare remedies arrived at by meditation. I am not against them per se, but it does not seat well with general public. Also, research – homeopthy needs to cultivate scientists and medical research that involves homeopathy. Not all doctors and scientists are opposed to such research. What Gerald Pollack claims in The Fourth Phase of Water is most interesting for homeopathic profession as it might just provide evidence how homeopathy works. The so called general public knows very little of Beneviste, Gerald Pollack and other research in science that might prove our point. There is enough research into homeopathy, but we need to find ways of filtering this knowledge into public arena. We need to think differently as profession…

    • Hi Hanna,

Actually, homeopaths are not the only ones who read the journal, and we’re often quoted in other sources. As to how to bring awareness of homeopathy to the general public, that would require an advertising campaign to rebrand homeopathy
and that seems to be beyond the community’s resources. The real issue is that Pharma is controlling the dialogue including having laws passed against homeopathy and constant negative and deceptive articles by shills for Pharma. It has nothing to do with how we practice – classical or noveau.

As i think i may have had C 19 2x in the end of 2019 ( as both times Bryo helped very quickly, its a guess) im searching for a test to see, wether my immune system may show the effect of a naturaly owned longtime immunity. If such may be the case i hope to be able to get it documented, as people here get free move when the have recovered from the disease, must be also the case with signs of long time immune competence.

I guess such must be the studies to enable people with the help of remedies and nosodes ( when they might be approved) ..They cannot censure this in the long run and demand every year vaccinations in a row.

    greetings from Berlin

  • Love the idea of handing out Burnett’s booklet, maybe sending one to all the medics out there along with a Faculty training course info (here in the UK at least) or other homeopathic training information.

I’ve a client who years ago told me the NHS could save a fortune if they trained every GP in basic homeopathy and gave every household a Helios homeopathy kit (other kits are of course available). Of course she’s right (in my estimation) and loved the way she put it so beautifully.

  • My knowledge of English is Good.
Anyhow I learned from this paragraph that’the dreams of Sir Jone Weir is reached to its devinity with Sir.
Okey. We are the followers of Sir still working with Hahnemann on hahnemannian Principles with almost satisfaction.
