Editorial – March 2022 – Saved by the Homeopathic Vet

Many years ago, my much beloved dog Gorby, swallowed a poisonous substance and fell into a state of paralysis. I took him to the closest vet, a competent allopath, who said the poison had already been absorbed and there was nothing to be done.

Immediately I rushed Gorby to Dr. Deva Khalsa, who writes the monthly veterinary column for this journal. She gave him IV vitamin C, did acupuncture on his liver points and gave Gelsemium 200. That night my beautiful pooch was playing with us in the park!

Last week, after a visit to a local allopathic vet, my cat Lilly appeared very sick.  She was weak and apathetic, wouldn’t eat and just not her normal self. In spite of all this, there was no fever.  On returning her to the same vet, he had no idea what to make of it. “We have nothing for this, she’ll have to work through it.”

My wife and I took her home, where within hours she was weaker, had glassy eyes and could barely keep her head up. I tried a few remedies without effect. It looked like she wouldn’t last the night.

Finally, I called Dr. Khalsa and described the symptoms.  Immediately, she surmised that Lilly had picked up an infection at the vet’s office. She came up with Baptisia. Within a couple hours of the first dose, Lilly’s demeanor changed. She was more alert, able to walk around. Later in the day, I repeated the Baptisia just once.

Next morning, I awoke to find Lilly on my pillow asking for food, the way she normally does every morning. I fed her, and then we played with her favorite toys.  I shouted to my wife, “She’s back!”
