Homeopathy and Pediatrics

April 2016 Editorial

Over the years, some of my older patients told me that as children, they had grown up with homeopathy. Their family doctor had been a homeopath, and they had never been given even an aspirin. Most children are not that fortunate. My wife’s nephew was given vaccines at birth, followed by rounds of antibiotics for an ear inflammation, then steroids for minor eczema and inhaled corticosteroids for the asthma which followed. When behavior problems were diagnosed, he was put on Ritalin. Now at 12 years old, he lacks vitality and suffers from numerous iatrogenically induced illnesses.  Did you ever wonder how your life might have been different if you were treated homeopathically?  Every child deserves a good start in life with a healthy body and mind.

This month, our theme is Homeopathy and Pediatrics. We have excellent cases and articles that offer lessons for homeopaths at every level.  Petr Zacharias and Petr Hoffman present well reasoned cases using the dependable Vithoulkas method. Céline Lourette’s five brief cases exhibit a wonderful intuitive approach. Spero Lacthis, with sparse symptoms to go on, does wonders for a 3 yr old with Spina Bifida. Dr. Vishpala Parthasarathy demonstrates her thoroughness with her “living repertory” approach to eczema in a 2 yr old girl. Dr. Edgar Mednis finds a solution for a little boy with frequent episodes of bronchitis and pneumonia. Dr. Devang Shah solves a case of chronic cough in a child, and Dr.Gaurang Gaikwad finds the simillimum for a child with muscle wasting. These are just samples of the fine pediatric case presentations by twenty homeopaths.

In the articles section, Dr. Edward A. Krusen (circa 1900), in The Application of the Homoeopathic Remedy in Obstetrics, states that doctors could avoid much needless suffering by using homeopathic remedies for common problems during birthing. Dr. Michelle Veneziano questions the common view of vaccines and Cathy Lemmon talks about homeoprophylaxis. Dr. Gaurang Gaikwad shares advantages of various repertories. Dr. Michel Bouko Levy discusses drainage for vaccine injured infants. Amy Rothenberg writes about treating school anxiety and Miranda Castro shares how she works with babies and children.
