Goitre is an abnormal enlargement of thyroid gland which can occur due to various reasons. Thyroid gland is one of the largest endocrine glands located in front of the neck, below the larynx. Enlarged goitre denotes the abnormal or improper functioning of thyroid gland.

Duboisia – acts on thyroid gland and acts as a palliative in case of exophthalmic goitre.

Bromium – enlarged parotid and goitre; having a remarkable effect on scrofulous children with enlarged gland.

Kali Iod – glands swollen, ulcerating, atrophied; goitre, bronchial, submaxillary glands; complaints after abuse of mercury or combined with scrofula.

Natrum Carb – swelling and induration of glands; emaciation, with pale face, dialated pupils, dark urine; skin dry, rough and chapped; suppurating herpes. With yellow rings; goitre; swollen cervical glands; humid herpetic eruptions and ulcers on nose, lips and around mouth; burning fissures on lower lip.

Spongia – goitre hard and large, with suffocating spells at night; hardness and swelling of testicles, especially after checked gonorrhoeae.

Conium Mac – has an excellent action on glands; goitre; anxious sensation in heart; protruding eyes.

Other medicines for goitre mainly include: Calcaria Carb, Natrum Mur, Calcaria Flour, Calcaria Iod, Graphites, Hepar Sulph, Causticum, Lachesis, Lycopodium, Hepar Sulph, Merc-i-f, Fluoric Acid, Ambra Gresia, Phosphorous, Tuberculinum, Thyreoidinum, Tarantula, Sepia, Silicea, and many other medicines.
