KIDNEY STONES (RENAL CALCULUS)

Discusses the symptom picture of this condition along with the remedies that are often indicated.

Calculus – *commonly called a stone, any abnormal secretion within the animal body. A calculus is usually composed of mineral salts.

Renal Calculus, or kidney stones – Calculus in the kidney.

Symptoms – *Blockage of flow of urine from kidney if the ureter is blocked by the stone; sudden, severe, and paroxysmal renal colic; urethral stricture; various degrees of inflammation.

Prognosis – *Serious if allowed to continue untreated.

Allopathic treatment – *Relief of pain, force fluids unless passage is completely blocked by the calculus. Medicines that are designed to relax smooth muscle help in passing the stone and relieving pain. If the stone is preventing urine flow or if the stone continues to grow and cause infection, surgery must be performed.

Other remedies to look at:

*Many other homeopathic medicine for kidney stone will come up especially when the case is individualized to each individual patient.

  • Kali Carb
  • Lachesis
  • Sepia
  • Medorrhinum

*Kidney stones may be something that could come up acutely following a constitutional remedy. This would be something that needed to come up and be expelled from the body. If the indicated acute remedy does not palliate a low dose of the constitutional may help. Although allopathic treatment may be the best alternative until the stone passes and then continue to monitor the constitutional treatment repeating the constitutional remedy when indicated.
