Tidbits 60: Elaine Cures A Dental Abscess--Again!
Written by Elaine Lewis

(Another dental debacle!)

I know people have been wondering when I would get back on track with my dental (Homeopathy Treatment for Dental Caries and Dental Abscess) emergencies!  Well, wonder no more, because here we go again!  I don’t know how these things keep happening to me; I mean, there I was, minding my own business, as usual, when I’m starting to notice that one of my lower left front teeth was hurting every time I bit down on it.  It was clear I wouldn’t be able to eat under the circumstances.  It was a nervy-like pain, somewhat numb too.  I don’t think I knew right away that I had an abscess.  I tried everything I could think of–Hepar sulph, Hekla Lava, Hypericum, Vitamin C, oil-pulling, etc.–but I wasn’t getting anywhere, and seeming to be getting worse by the minute!  I realized that I was starving but wouldn’t be able to eat the dinner I cooked.  “I can’t go on like this,” I heard myself say.

I decided to take matters into my own hands!  I went into the bathroom.  I have a dental instrument — here I am posing next to it.  Too bad you can’t really see it!

It looks something like this:

Yeah, I know, it looks pretty scary, and I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do with it, really; I just did what I assumed the dentist would do, I scraped the root of my tooth, hoping to pop the abscess.  I was pressing on the abscess to help it along.  Yes, very painful and not pleasant!

An amount of blood came out; but I didn’t see any of the pus I was expecting.  An abscess, after all, is a collection of pus.  I decided I had to make a remedy out of the blood.  I emptied out a small spring water bottle, leaving just a little water at the bottom; then I rinsed out my mouth using the remaining water in the bottle, and spit it back in.  Now I added more spring water, succussed 40 times, dumped 90% of it out, refilled to the half-way point, succussed 40 times… did that over and over again until I had a 6C.  I began dosing with that every half hour.  I also dosed with Calendula 1M and Symphytum 30C.  Bottom line was, the tooth stopped hurting and I was able to eat dinner.  Yay!!!!

BUT…  still there was pain below the gum-line, the root of the tooth.  I took Symphytum for that, and it helped.  Even so, I rejoiced in being so much better!

However, the next day, I was disappointed that there was no further progress!  After my afternoon nap, I woke up to the manifest realization that the abscess was back!  I could see it!  It looked like a small, well-rounded pimple, and the pressure it was exerting could not be ignored.  Pressing on it made it throb.  I couldn’t go on this way with so much pain.  It was Sunday night, dentist office closed, I had to do something!!!!

Don’t ask me how I got this idea, I don’t know, but I decided to get a razor blade and lance it!  I know, either I’m very brave or very crazy!  Luckily, I had one razor blade in the house!  (Never used)  I sterilized it with alcohol.  I located the abscess and make a slice across it.  Immediately, all this pus came out!  Hooray!!!  Finally!  I wasn’t sure how much more there might be, though!  I kept pushing on the abscess and pushing on it, nothing else came out; so I sliced it again.  Nothing but blood.  It still felt hard and painful!  I sliced it a third time, pushed on it again.  Only blood.

Meanwhile, I had been rinsing with Calendula 1M in water every minute or so.  Calendula is an anti-septic.

Well, I realized I just had to stop.  I could not keep slicing up my mouth like this!  I have a dentist appointment in a month, and what will the dentist say when he sees all these slice marks?

I knew I saw pus come out, so why didn’t the abscess flatten out and stop hurting?  I was feeling despair.  But little did I know that this takes time!  Maybe it was the Silica 200C I took, or maybe the Staphysagria 10M for the “incision” pain, but within a few hours, all the pain was gone, the abscess was gone, and the razor marks were gone too–I couldn’t believe my eyes!  And the abscess never came back, it’s been days now, 3 days, and it’s gone completely, no sign of it at all.

So, there you have it everybody; I guess the moral of the story is, there’s always a role for homeopathy to play, even if it’s just to ensure that the “surgery” has a good outcome!

Bye, see you next time!

  • It’s so miserable having an infected tooth or gum so GOOD JOB, Elaine! You’re a beacon of light, an intelligent role model, for all of us who prefer to DIY rather than trust the allopaths. (And may I suggest you buy some more blades the next time your’e out because, clearly, we never know what might hit us next!
