Dear Dr. Khalsa
Our 7year old Siberian Husky had an Ascarid infestation two years ago that was treated allopathically. Now he has the exact same symptoms – grinding his teeth, swelling around the eyes, extreme hunger, coughing, diarrhea. Is there a homeopathic remedy or any safe method that will work?

Quite honestly, I love Panacur which is given for three days and you can get over the counter at 1-800- Pet-Meds. Worms are insidious and create a continual non-optimal stimulation of the immune system. While allopathic medicine threw homeopathy out (the baby and the bathwater) we need not do the same to allopathic products that actually help. In the old days worming was a purging with diarrhea and discomfort,which would never work for our dogs. Roundworms crawl through your dog’s feet as the eggs hatch in the soil and the larvae crawl up on the grass blades through his skin, into his blood and travel to the gut. He just got them again.

Snoops, our five year old Beagle, has been diagnosed with anal fistula. Can homeopathy help with this?

Anal fistula is a very serious problem that usually only gets worse. It has an autoimmune component. You can try Myristica 6x four times a day for a month with Epson salts soaks – following directions on container- for 5 minutes at least once a day but twice is better for the first two weeks. Use a cotton batting or old piece of absorbent cloth for the soak. I do suggest you make an appointment with me at www.doctordeva.com You can try this first and it if does not work…. you have to move fast as they can expand and increase in number.

My male Golden Retriever (6 years old) was diagnosed with Epulis. We’d like to avoid surgery and especially radiation. I’ve used homeopathy for other problems over the years. Is there a homeopathic protocol I could try?

Hello Dr. Khalsa,
My six year old German Shepherd was in pain after running up a very steep hill. He was later diagnosed with a torn ligament. Can I treat this with remedies?

Ruta grav is an excellent remedy, specific for ligaments of the knee. That said, if it was torn badly you need more than this. If your dog is using the leg and tiptoeing in the beginning it is not too bad and you can use Ruta 6x four times a day and Myristin for Dogs www.deservingpets.com as an oral chew. If your dog is not using or hardly using the leg, I would strongly suggest Prolotherapy and you can find a practitioner at AHMVA.com, which is the American Holistic Veterinary Association.
