Difficulty finding a materia medica for homeopathic uncaria tomentosa (cats claw).

Posted by: Sheri Miller

I am having difficulty finding a materia medica for homeopathic uncaria tomentosa (cat’s claw). I can find plenty of information on the use of the herb, but very little on it as a homeopathic. I wonder if they are similar?
Thank you!

Hi Sheri,
I checked my various Materia Medica books, and so far, it does not seem that Cat’s Claw has been proven homeopathically (ie – taken long enough to see what kind of toxicity develops). As a herb, it is given to enhance immune function, increase enerty and stamina and I have seen it given for this in low homeopathic potencies (that tends to mimic the herbal picture), such as 1X or 3X.
Some more information here:

I hope this helps.

  • Re Uncaria tomentosa. I had a case of a young man who complained: I have a virus in my body that I can not get rid of”. After giving some remedies with limited effect, I found the info: Viral effects added by Robin Murphy in Radar Version 10.3. After Unc toment. C200 his energy and stamina improved and the case started progressing. The most troubling symptom Pain in lungs when trying to exercise (he was an athlete), also dissappeared.

  • Not sure if this is much help yet, but I just got presecribed uncar-tom by one of the world’s leading Indian homeopaths. I have auto-immune disease, migraines, chronic fatigue, history of viral triggers (herpes zoster and epstein barr) sensations of heaviness, issues of struggle and freedom. Row 6/Lanthanide, column 8
